STORY FOR FOOD

An alternative economy based on stories

After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.― Philip Pullman

STORY FOR FOOD is an original idea by Christina Kyriazidi that proposes a model for an alternative economy based on stories. The initiative aims to promote oral storytelling and collect undocumented stories, stories that otherwise would be lost. We organize story installations, storytelling workshops, acoustic cinema and a series of events, where a selection of stories are translated into food (FOODBACK), music (MUSICBACK), art objects (ARTBACK), songs (SONGBACK) etc We also run the Berlin Story Hub and monthly live radio shows dedicated to stories on the Berlin Brandenburg Freies Radios. Its' mission is to help value stories in society by encouraging the practice of sharing them and, of course, fostering the culture of listening to them.

WE LOVE STORIES

International Storytelling & Performing Arts Festival

We Love Stories is an International Storytelling and Performing Arts Festival that takes place in Chania, Crete. Through literature, visual, and performing arts we share stories and folk tales from different parts of the world with the participation of international artists.

It is organized by STORY FOR FOOD (SFF), a Berlin-based international platform for collecting and archiving oral stories. SFF audio collects and archives anonymous stories that would otherwise be lost, and exchanges them for food. Co-organizers of the festival are the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, and the OurStories Foundation.

Finally, We Love Stories wishes to give the visitors of the festival the opportunity to record their own stories in the SFF Story Audio Archive. Each story recording is exchanged for a coffee in different parts of the city, while food gift vouchers are offered to unemployed people. Stories from specific communities (immigrants, Roma, etc.) are also recorded within the frame of the festival.

MARINAIO TEATRO

Theatre Group

We are looking for a theatre language that whispers under the skin, in order to give voice and form to the unknown inside us. We use our body and voice in a poetic, non-conventional way, both as a source of inspiration and as a tool for creation. We wish to transform ideas into concrete actions and to affect with physical sensations rather than words. Through a universe of images, sounds and sensations, we travel the spectator to unvisited lands, with a dynamic narration, that is neither linear, nor descriptive, but progresses with leaps of associations, offering him the space to create his own stories. Our line of work is based on what we call oniric theatre.

marinaio teatro was founded in Berlin in 2010 by Christina Kyriazidi and it concentrates on actor research and training, the creation of performances and street actions, and on international collaborations.
