CHRISTINA KYRIAZIDI
Theatre Maker, Poet, Musician, Podcaster, and award-winning Performer, Playwright & Screenwriter.
ABOUT ME
I am a Greek theatre-maker, poet, musician, and award-winning performer, playwright, and screenwriter, based between Berlin and Athens. I trained in acting and playwriting in Greece and the UK (University of Exeter) and work internationally across performance, direction, dramaturgy, and artistic research.
Over the past two decades, I have developed an interdisciplinary practice that combines theatre, poetry, movement, and music, with a strong focus on solo performance. I have created 18 original solo works that have toured extensively across Europe, South and North America, presented in festivals, theatres, and galleries including Festival d’Avignon OFF, Magdalena Theatre Festival, and United Solo Festival (New York). I have collaborated with international theatre groups such as Odin Teatret.
My plays and performances have received international recognition and support, including awards from the Hellenic Union of Writers, Brazil’s Ministry of Culture (FUNARTE Award), Dramaturgia Sobre la Crisi – PIIGS Festival Barcelona, Festival du Théâtre Francophone de Berlin, and the International Epidaurus Film Festival. In 2024, my solo performance [OBLIVION] was awarded Best International Show at the United Solo Festival in New York, and in 2025 CRACKS received the Special Jury Award at the SITFY Poland International Monodrama Festival.
Alongside my artistic work, I initiate and curate international collaborative projects, including the Berlin-based platform STORY FOR FOOD, which explores storytelling as a tool for exchange and social engagement.
My current artistic research focuses on gender studies, memory, displacement, and the intergenerational legacies of war and forced migration. Through embodied dramaturgy and poetic narrative, I investigate how personal and collective memory are inscribed in the body, language, and ritual. I am particularly interested in developing new work within international and cross-cultural contexts, engaging with local histories and communities while contributing to transnational artistic dialogue.
